Job Description: The Institute of Experimental Neurology (INSPE) and Center for Translational Genomics and BioInformatics at San Raffaele Scientific Institute are seeking an outstanding candidate who will work across the Institute and the Center to work on new and challenging aspects of the genetics of neurological disease. The focus will be on the analysis of GWAS data as well as the integration of whole genome and exome re-sequencing data. The candidate will be expected to analyze SNP, INDEL and CNV data, perform genetic imputation across internal and public datasets, adjust for genetic stratification and correlation with clinical phenotypes. By being affiliated to both INSPE and the Center for Translational Genomics and Bioinformatics, the candidate will benefit from being immersed in a wider bioinformatics and genomics environment as well as the clinical/biological environment of relevance to the project. GWAS and fine-mapping data from International Consortia projects (IMSGC and Immunochip), studies on pharmacogenomics of MS and AD patients and related clinical information are already available. Essential Requirements: -PhD or equivalent experience in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics or Applied Mathematics - Good understanding of genetics and molecular biology - Documented experience with statistical programs used for analyses of GWAS data such as EIGENSTRAT, PLINK, SAS, SPSS and imputation, such as MACH. - Knowledge of statistical packages such as R, Bioconductor - Experience in at least one scripting language, e.g. Perl, Python - Good knowledge of written and spoken english Desirable Requirements: - Experience with analysis exome and whole genome re-sequencing data, e.g. alignment, variant calling and variant annotation - Experience with genomic data mining and integration and pathway analysis, such as GSEA, Ingenuity - Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Perl, C - Experience with database management and database design, e.g MySQL, PostgreSQL - Web development and management experience - Relevant publication record Conditions: Salary: According to experience and profile Duration: 2-3 years Start date: as soon as possible How to apply: Please send your application to stupka.elia@hsr.it and martinelli.filippo@hsr.it Please include: - cover letter - CV including contact details - names of two referees (with email and phone number)
