un bando di selezione per l’assegnazione di 10 borse di studio biennali per lo svolgimento di progetti di ricerca e formazione in Genomica e Bioinformatica applicata alla Genomica presso il Laboratorio di Medicina Molecolare dell’Universita’ degli Studi di Salerno - Campus di Medicina di Baronissi, rivolte a residenti di una delle seguenti Regioni: Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia, Sardegna o Sicilia in possesso del titolo di Dottore in Ricerca da non più di 3 anni (fino a 4 nel caso di provenienza da un laboratorio estero o sito al di fuori delle Regioni su indicate). Si prenderanno in considerazione anche domande di iscritti all’ultimo anno di un corso di Dottorato, laddove si preveda che il titolo verrà conseguito entro i primi 6 mesi del 2011. Per la Bioinformatica è richiesta ai candidati esperienza diretta nella messa a punto ed implementazione di metodi di analisi di dati derivanti dalle varie applicazioni del sequenziamento massivo di acidi nucleici (next generation sequencing: ChIP-, RNA- e BS-Seq e targeted re-sequencing) e/o da gene expression profiling e SNP genotyping, comprovata da pubblicazioni e lettere di presentazione di ricercatori del campo. Nella valutazione si terrà conto della preparazione generale in Biologia e Genetica molecolare, della propensione all’utilizzo e sviluppo di algoritmi e SW dedicati e delle conoscenze di base delle principali tecniche di analisi globali di acidi nucleici, oltre che dell’attitudine ed interesse a svolgere in autonomia attività di ricerca in ambiti scientifici innovativi e competitivi.

Job Description: There are 5 positions available for the PhD in Physics and Chemistry of Biological Systems at the International School for Advanced Studies, Trieste, Italy.

Application deadline: Sept. 23, 2010.

Applicants are expected to have a general background in Physics or Chemistry. Admitted students will have the opportunity to follow a one-year educational program in an international and interdisciplinary environment, followed by two or three years of active research in one of the following areas:

* structural bioinformatics,
* statistical mechanics of complex molecular systems,
* biomolecular simulations,
* simulations of rare events.

Job Description: The Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples is among the top research institutions in the world in the fields of marine biology and ecology. The new established bioinformatics laboratory is seeking for a candidate interested in the evolution of Long Non-coding RNAs http://bit.ly/dm8bmz.
We are looking for someone who understands basic biological and evolutionary problems and is able to independently accomplish bioinformatics tasks.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate the ability to work in a UNIX/Linux environment and be proficient with at least two among: a scripting language (e.g. Perl), a database system (e.g. MySQL) and a statistical programming environment (e.g R). Previous experience with comparative genomics and with genomics databases as well as an understanding of statistical methods and mathematical models used in the interpretation of biological data is a desirable asset.

At the Institute for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology of the University of Leipzig

You have a Master of Science degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics or applied mathematics with a good knowledge on molecular biology and software skills in R, Bioconductor, SAS, LateX, SQL and HTML. Depending on your qualification we can offer a salary ranging from 18.850 € to 37.700 € per year. The positions are offered for a duration of 2-3 years with an option of prolongation. Our institute is involved in design and analysis of large scale interventional clinical trials and in projects on molecular and genetic profiling of tumour diseases. You will be involved in/ responsible for data analysis on large patient cohorts and high throughput measurements (genotyping, transcriptome, metabolom) up to next generation sequencing. We invite enthusiastic colleagues with English language skills to the vivid city of Leipzig (close to Berlin) to join our interdisciplinary team.
