A SystemsX iPhD student position is available starting immediately or later in 2012 in the lab of Prof. Christian Hardtke at the Department of Plant Molecular Biology, University of Lausanne, Switzerland, in co-supervision with Prof. Richard Smith, University of Bern and local bioinformatics support from Prof. Ioannis Xenarios of the neighboring Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics.
Our departments offer excellent research infrastructure combined with a lively, interactive and international scientific community, located in the beautiful Lake Geneva region.
The candidate is expected to interact with molecular biologists and computer scientists to extend our computational morphodynamics approaches in plant growth & development (see Sankar et al., Bioinformatics, 2011, Vol. 27, pp. 1404-1412; and Santuari & Scacchi et al., Current Biology, 2011,Vol. 21: pp. 1918-1923 for reference). Excellent computational resources and expertise are available through the lab and the neighboring Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. Candidates are expected to follow up on the project described in the Santuari et la. reference and will take part in the Integrative Experimental and Computational Biology doctoral program (http://www.unil.ch/iecb) of our faculty.
SystemsX iPhD position in Mathematical Modelling of Plant Growth & Development Strongly motivated candidates with a solid background in programming, bioinformatics and/or computer science are encouraged to apply.
