Job Description:
A postdoctoral position is available in the Analytical Genomic Team at the Laboratory of Genomic of Microorganisms, UMR 7238 CNRS-Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris.
The postdoctoral researcher will participate to the MAPPING (Making Accurate Predictions of Protein-Protein Interactions on the Genomic scale) project, funded from the french Ministry of Research in the framework of the Programs of Excellence in Bioinformatics.
She/he will be responsible for the design and the implementation of sequence analysis methods based on residue coevolution and conservation for the prediction of protein partners and for the refinement of a protein interaction index designed for discriminating true protein partners.
The candidate should have a background in theoretical computer science, mathematics, physics or bioinformatics (with a solid base in mathematics and computer science). Doctoral or postdoctoral experience in protein sequence/structure or/and sequence evolution is desirable. He/she should also have strong computing skills. Postdoctoral support is for a year, renewable for two more years.
It can start on October 1st, 2012. All interested candidate should contact Alessandra Carbone (Alessandra.Carbone@lip6.fr) and send a cv with two reference names.
The “Université Pierre et Marie Curie” in Paris is one of the largest (30,000 students, 3,250 researchers) in France and it features a dynamic and valuable work site in the heart of Paris. The candidate will join the ``Analytical Genomics” team, headed by A.Carbone, at the laboratory “Genomics of Microorganisms”.
The laboratory provides a fully interdisciplinary environment by regrouping experimental biologists and physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists interested in genomics, evolution and environmental adaptation.
