The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences 

to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.
 

The Babraham Institute is developing an internationally competitive research focus in 

computational biology. Following the recruitment of Nicolas Le Novère, the Institute is 

looking for experts to establish research groups that complement and extend existing research 

activities pursued in one or more of our research Programmes (Signalling, Lymphocyte, 

Epigenetic Regulation, Nuclear Dynamics). The Institute’s current research may be viewed at 

http://www.babraham.ac.uk/. The new groups will also build on the activity of the Babraham 

bioinformatics team. We aim to make a strategic appointment for an individual with 

bioinformatics and computational expertise to contribute to the research of the Nuclear 

Dynamics Programme (informal enquiries to Peter Fraser: peter.fraser@babraham.ac.uk), and 

will also consider excellent candidates covering the following domains:
 

 Genomics, epigenomics and nuclear genome organization

 Computational biology of the ageing process

 Statistical analysis of large-scale datasets, e.g.  lipidomics, next generation 

sequencing and imaging.

The Babraham Institute has the infrastructure and resources to undertake  world-leading 

innovative research and advanced training. The Institute’s research is targeted to underpin the 

Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council’s (BBSRC) strategy addressing the 

basic bioscience underpinning health and has a particular focus upon healthy ageing. 
 

The Institute is located in a parkland setting 5 miles south of the city and plays a major role 

within the dynamic Cambridge cluster of academic and biotechnological discovery. The 

campus is close to the European Bioinformatics Institute, The Sanger Institute, The MRCLMB and Cambridge University.
The campus includes housing and a nursery, and is close to 

excellent schools. The successful applicants will receive core support and an appropriate start 

up packages. They will be expected to raise additional funding through external grant 

applications. The level of appointment will be determined by the experience and expertise of
