The Department of Biology of the University of Padova is seeking two highly motivated Bioinformatics IT Technicians to join the BioData computing facility.
These permanent, full-time positions offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge bioinformatics research and support.

The Department of Biology at the University of Padova is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of modern biological research. Its scientific aims encompass a broad spectrum of fields within biology, examining life at various levels of organization, from molecules to organisms and ecosystems, all through an evolutionary perspective. Research programs within the Department utilize a wide range of model organisms, including diverse microorganisms, invertebrates, insects, and small vertebrates. This variety enables researchers to explore complex biological questions across multiple scales and systems. To support its cutting-edge investigations, the Department is equipped with an extensive collection of advanced instruments and research facilities. This rich technological environment empowers researchers to employ innovative experimental approaches in their pursuit of scientific knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain software for biological data analysis, including genomic sequences and microscopy images
• Develop custom scripts and programs to automate complex processes and expedite biological data analysis
• Evaluate, select, and integrate IT tools and pipelines to enhance analysis efficiency and quality
• Provide technical support to users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues
• Organize training activities on analytical systems and proper use of departmental IT resources
• Contribute to technical documentation and scientific reports

Required Qualifications:
• University degree in a relevant field (specific degree classes detailed in the selection notice)
• Basic knowledge of biology and biostatistics
• Experience with analytical and IT techniques supporting biological and biostatistical research
• Excellent knowledge of HPC cluster management and Linux-based systems administration
• Good command of English (B2 level)
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in molecular and biochemical laboratory techniques or environmental field studies
• Familiarity with parallel workflow definition and implementation
• Knowledge of version control systems and collaborative development platforms
