The National Cancer Institute (Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori) is the first among the Italian oncological IRCCS according to the evaluation criteria of the Italian Ministry of Health. It is a national and international reference center for the most frequent and common cancers, but also for rare and pediatric cancers. With 650 people dedicated to research and 27 research groups, it is a center of excellence for preclinical, translational and clinical, epidemiological and health research.

We are seeking for a (bio)informatician who will deal with the main Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies in the analysis of transcriptomic (including single-cell RNAseq), and genomic data in the study of primary and metastatic tumors (the group is awarded with AIRC funding on breast cancer research). He/she will be involved in informatic pipelines and GUI platform(s) development for the institutional Molecular Tumor Board (>2000 samples every year). The person will benefit of close interactions with a large multidisciplinary team, where the group of bioinformaticians share resources and expertise to support clinical practice and research efforts in data analysis.
Specifically, we are looking for applicant with demonstrated proficiency in coding and interest to interact with biologists and clinicians.

Requirements summary:
• Degree in one of the following fields of study: (bio)informatics, computer science, physics or related fields;
• R, Python and bash scripting;
• JavaScript and/or C++;
• familiarity with multiple OS environment;
• fluency in spoken/written English is considered as mandatory.

Documented informatic skills to manage high-performance computing platforms are warmly required. Previous experience in the analysis of NGS data and background in genetics, genomics will be evaluated as a plus.

Contract and salary are flexible and will be agreed based on the Applicant’s experience.
