The Laboratory of Neurogenomic Biomarkers (https://www.cibio.unitn.it/302/laboratory-of-
neurogenomic-biomarkers), Department of Cellular, Computational and Integrative Biology (CIBIO) of the
University of Trento is seeking for a post doc in computational biology – bioinformatics to work on a
three-years integrated project for the validation of a genomic target for psychiatry disorders, funded by
the MDC Psychiatry Consortium (https://md.catapult.org.uk/news/psychiatry-consortium-international-
collaboration/). The project is based on the comprehensive characterization of transcript diversity of the
target, and its modulation in psychiatry disorders, as well the study of the consequences of target
modulation in cellular and in vivo models by molecular, functional and behavioral analysis. The candidate
will have the chance to interact with scientists from pharma companies and see how basic research can
help translating genomic findings into drug discovery programmes. The successful candidate is expected
to work in a multidisciplinary team and lead the workpackage dedicated to the RNASeq analysis of brain
tissues through targeted long read Sequencing and whole transcriptome approaches.

The ideal candidate will have
- a PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genomics or related fields
- previous experience in the analysis of NGS data and in functional genomics
- strong programming skills and expertise in biostatistics.
- good communication skills and self-motivation
- previous knowledge or interest in molecular neurobiology is a plus

The position is available from February 2022 and can be extended up to three years.
