GCB 2008: German Conference on Bioinformatics
http://www.gcb2008.de
Dresden, 9-12 September 2008
Paper deadline: 16 May 2008
GCB invites the submission of papers on all aspects of bioinformatics.
This year's conference particularly invites papers pursuing a systems approach to disease. You are invited to an exciting programme with the key note speakers Michael Ashburner, Janusz Bujnicki, David Gilbert, Trey Ideker, Jens Reich and Marino Zerial. GCB will feature regular papers, a poster track, a highlights track and tutorials on pathway analysis, image analysis, QTL analysis, and structure prediction. The conference language will be English. As in previous years, selected regular papers wll be published in the journal "Bioinformatics".
Areas of interest include:
============================================
- Sequence Analysis and Comparative Genomics
- Analysis of Functional Genomics Data
- Structural Bioinformatics
- RNA/DNA Structure
- Molecular Interactions and Drug Design
- Systems Biology
- Biochemical and Genetic Networks
- Textmining and Ontologies
- Image Analysis
The focus is not limited to specific computational techniques or
biological applications.
The annual German Conference on Bioinformatics is organized on behalf
of the Special Interest Group on Informatics in Biology of the German
Society of Computer Science (GI) in cooperation with the German
Society of Chemical Technique and Biotechnology (Dechema) and the
German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM) with
support of the European Life Science Organization (ELSO).
Location:
=============================================
GCB 2008 will take place from 9-12 September 2008 at the Deutsches
Hygiene-Museum Dresden, near the historical center of Dresden.
Invited Speakers:
=============================================
- Michael Ashburner, Cambridge, UK
- Janusz M. Bujnicki, Warsaw and Poznan, Poland
- David Gilbert, Glasgow, UK
- Trey Ideker, San Diego, U.S.A.
- Jens Reich, Berlin, Germany
- Marino Zerial, Dresden, Germany
Tutorials:
=============================================
- Steffen Moeller, Lübeck (Expression QTL and their analysis)
- Stefan Schuster, Jena (Metabolic Pathway Analysis)
- Jens Meiler, Vanderbilt, USA (Rosetta in Computational Structural Biology)
- Johannes Schindelin, Würzburg (Image Analysis)
Dates:
=============================================
Submission of Papers: May 16, 2008
Notification of acceptance: June 23, 2008
Final version due: July 11, 2008
Poster abstract submission: August 1, 2008
Highlights track submission: August 1, 2008
Early registration deadline: August 1, 2008
The GCB invites submissions of the following types:
=============================================
Papers: Papers should have up to ten pages and will be published in
the conference proceedings (published in the "Lecture Notes in
Informatics" series of the Gesellschaft für Informatik). Submissions
will be judged by quality, originality, and relevance. The program
committee may select up to ten outstanding papers for publication in
Bioinformatics (fast track).
Highlights track: For the first time, there will be a highlights track
at GCB. We invite the submission of full papers that have been
published between August 2007 and July 2008. Publications that are "in
press" and already linked on the journal web site are also welcome. A
group of experts will select the papers to be presented at the meeting
considering the impact of the work on the field, and the relevance to
the conference, in general. Submissions must include a 250-word
abstract-like argument that explains how the submitted paper(s) suit
the goal of presenting highlights that impacted the field.
Poster Abstracts: Posters should present recent scientific work in any
of the areas specified above. Poster abstracts should not exceed 300
words in length including references. Abstracts of accepted posters
will be published in a separate abstract book.
Submissions will only be accepted electronically. Submission will
open in April 2008. For details see http://www.gcb2008.de
