Three postdoc positions in bioinformatic analysis of NGS data - Verona - Italy
 
The Functional Genomics laboratory is looking for three enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the staff of the Functional Genomics Centre at the University of Verona, Italy. Our research group is committed to the study of the genome and transcriptome using NGS technologies both in model and non-model organisms.
 
Positions available:
1) Postdoctoral position in bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomes and genomes primarily of plant species. The candidate will engage genome structural annotation, transcriptome assembly and expression analysis in a variety of different research projects. The candidate will also be tasked with the development of internal analysis pipelines and with tailoring them for the different projects he will be engaged in.
2) Postdoctoral position in bioinformatic analysis and interpretation of human genomes. The candidate will perform variants detection and annotation-interpretation in different projects for the study of genetically inherited diseases and for the clinical interpretation of individual genomes.
3) Postdoctoral position in development of the KnoSys software-hardware integrated commercial platform in collaboration with Knome Inc. (http://www.knome.com/). The candidate will be involved in the activity of development and integration of novel features and databases in the software and will be in charge of the testing of the software with clinical sequence data.

The positions are initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
 
Ideally the applicants should have: a Ph.D. in computational biology, molecular biology, biology or related fields; good knowledge of computational methods for sequence analysis; familiarity with the Linux operating system and programming skills in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g. Python, Perl, R, C++); a publication record in bioinformatics or genomics; excellent communication skills.
