The SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics is seeking a post-doctoral fellow.
Topic: Prediction of pathogenicity of genetic variations in human sodium channels

The person will be part of CALIPHO (http://www.isb-sib.ch/groups/geneva/calipho-bairoch.html), a joint group of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics and the University of Geneva.

The post-doctoral fellow will work on the NavMutPredict project which aims to predict the pathogenicity of genetic variations in human sodium channels. The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for designing a program that integrates all knowledge on this protein family and makes predictions based on this information that will be experimentally validated by our collaborators in this project, the Ion Channel Research Group of the University of Bern.

Profile requirements Expertise required:
• PhD in bioinformatics or in a life science field (obtained after 2009)
• Successfully completed bioinformatics projects
• Experience with Java, Web development technologies, JavaScript Desirable:
• Knowledge of pathogenicity prediction methods (SIFT, PolyPhen, etc)
• Sequence analysis
• Knowledge of sodium channel biology

Language: English (professional working proficiency); French
