Bioinformatics Research Associate / Research Assistant (ref. 13622)
Department of Computer Science
Based in the Department of Computer Science you will work with Dr Julian Gough and collaborate with other research groups outside the University. The research centres on the SUPERFAMILY database (http://supfam.org) of protein domains and genomic analysis. Activities will include development, integration and dissemination of the models and biological results. In addition to this you will pursue an active investigative research program within the broader interests of the group. To this end a good candidate must demonstrate motivation to tackle scientific challenges, as well as ability and some independence. You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in an appropriate area related to computational and theoretical molecular biology. Skills in SQL, Perl and Linux are a bonus, as is bioinformatics experience; relevant knowledge of both biology and computing is important.

Salary: £27466 - £32796 dependent on skills & experience
