Job Description:
The role of physical forcings variability in setting the spatio-temporal distribution of diatoms populations.
In the framework of the Ritmare Project (http://bit.ly/10u4iiB) the role of the variability of the physical forcings in the definition of the spatial and temporal patterns of diatom populations will be investigated using statistical and bioinformatics tools, with the aim of understanding their impact on diatoms seasonality.
The successful candidate will use advanced statistical techniques to analyse existing databases on diatoms occurrence, morphology and genomics, including the analysis of gene expressions in different environmental conditions from samples collected during laboratory experiments or at sea (including TARA Oceans data: http://bit.ly/10u4oHg). The candidate will work in the framework of a wide international team.
The fellowship is up to two years . Applicants should have one of the following requisites: PhD in Biology or Biology-related disciplines, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Ecology Engineering, Bioinformatics; verified experience in subjects related to the specific research project and in biological systems similar to the ones which will be investigated in the project.
Details on the procedure can be found at http://bit.ly/10u4ui0 and specifically at: http://bit.ly/10u4zlL (the deadline for the application is April 22).
