Computational Pre/Post doctoral Fellow on Chromatin and Epigenetics in Autoimmune Sex-bias
Location
Department of Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotecnology (University Federico II of Naples)

The Cantone laboratory at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotecnology (University Federico II of Naples) is looking for a Postdoctoral candidate to join the group. The position is full-time for 2 years (30-35k/yr) to investigate chromatin-mediated epigenetic mechanisms underlying the sex-bias in human autoimmune diseases. To this, you will analyse various omics datasets including Cut&Run, RAPseq and single-cell transcriptomes by using currently established bioinformatic pipelines and developing new ones.

Deadline for Applications: until position is filled
Start date: within 2025

Our research

Our group studies fundamental mechanisms of epigenetic gene regulation by using X chromosome inactivation as an exemplar. Have a look at our website for more info: https://www.cantonelab.org/

Job description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated post-doctoral candidate with a background in bioinformatics, math, physics or other life science fields. Experience with programming (R, phyton, etc) is required. Predoctoral candidates with previous computational biology experience might also be considered for the position. As a Pre-/Post doctoral fellow in our group, you will determine the impact of escape or reactivation from X chromosome inactivation on the sex bias of autoimmune reactions in Multiple Sclerosis and identify the underlying chromatin and epigenetic factors. The project is grounded on our preliminary single cell analyses and established functional assays.

Qualifications:
o MSc/PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Life Science)
o Knowledge of at least one programming language (preferably R or Python) and experience with data processing pipelines are required
o A solution-oriented, organizational and positive mindset is essential
o The ability to work in a highly collaborative environment as part of the team
o Good publication record
o Fluency in written and spoken English.

The application must include:
1. Cover letter
2. Curriculum vitae incl. education, experience, previous employments, language and other relevant skills
3. List of publications.
