PhD Position

A PhD position is available at the Computational Biology group of the Department of Biology of the University of Padua. The PhD project “Ultra-deep transcriptome sequencing and assembly of Antarctic organisms” will aim at defining the transcriptomic landscape of four different Antarctic species. The study will rely on deep sequencing approaches, on molecular biology and bioinformatic analyses to perform transcriptome assemblies and to assess the functions of the obtained sequences.

The ideal candidate is a highly motived young graduate, or perspective graduate by October, who is very passionate with science and is interested in the investigation of the marine environment of the Southern Ocean. Proven expertise in computation biology, molecular cell biology and some basic statistics is needed.

To apply, please send an email to Gabriele Sales (gabriele.sales@unipd.it) or Chiara Romualdi (chiara.romualdi@unipd.it) no later than May 15th, including a complete CV and a one-page motivation letter. Please include the email address of at least one potential referee for recommendation letter, ideally the past thesis supervisor or instructor. Do not include recommendation letter to your application.
