Job offer at the University of Florence
An opening is available at the University of Florence for a post-doctoral
grant or "assegno di ricerca", funded by the INDIGO Datacloud project.
INDIGO is an EC-funded project focused on the development of cloud-based
technologies for scientific research. Within INDIGO, the Florence reserch
team represents the Life Sciences, and specifically Structural Biology,
research community. Our role in the project is broadly defined as the
development of molecular dynamics (MD) applications based on INDIGO
technologies. The inclusion of MD applications based on GPU systems is
also planned. The applications developed shall be made available to the
INDIGO user community via portals.
Among our previous related work, we developed a portal for MD-based
refinement of NMR structures (doi: 10.1093/bioinformatics/btr415) as well
as new methods, again using NMR data, for the characterization of the
conformational space sampled by two-domain proteins (doi:
10.1021/ja1063923).

The Florence lab is a core center of the INSTRUCT ESFRI infrastructure for
structural biology (www.structuralbiology.eu), with a specific expertise
in high resolution NMR spectroscopy of biological systems in solution and
in the solid state. We also have a long-standing tradition in the study of
metalloproteins, experimentally and through bioinformatics.

Basic requirements include skill in molecular dynamics simulations of
proteins and some programming capabilities. The position will start by the
end of 2015, early 2016.
