RESEARCH ACTIVITY
I'm a Ph.D. Bioinformatics scientist with a biological background. My current activities focus on processing and exploring NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data to use bioinformatics resources for data analysis and interpretation.
My area of expertise includes the use of different programming languages to implement, adapt and/or optimize methods and standard algorithms for data analysis.

During my PhD the research activity was held at the Bioinformatics CORE Lab at the Genetic Research Institute ”Gaetano Salvatore” (IRGS/BioGeM), and at the Molecular Biology Lab at the Department of Sciences and Technologies, University of Sannio, Italy.
Work, carried on, was relative to Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Systems Biology. Specifically I worked on Gene Expression Analysis from microarray and RNA-seq data and analysis of miRNA expression projects; Discovery of Transcription Factors Binding Sites, Gene Signature and Survival Analysis methods, resulting in the development of basic knowledge to be able to perform a preliminary analysis starting from the raw data, and the ability to apply different methods of analysis of data from different platforms (Affymetrix; Illumina; Life Technologies; etc.) and according to the nature of the experimental design (Time Course, Steady State, etc.).
My efforts have produced publications in International Journals and development of R/CRAN packages.

I spent five years as Bioinformatics PostDoc at the Laboratory of Molecular Oncology Dpt. of Experimental and Clinical Medicine Magna Græcia University of Catanzaro, where my focus was to analyze and manipulate Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, and to develope reliable methods to assess different NGS approaches.
