BIOINFORMATICS DEVELOPER at CBM, Trieste, Italy
Job Description: CBM is a public-private consortium which carries out research and advanced training in the field of molecular biomedicine. It provides services promoting the diffusion of innovation, transfer of technology, and support in the launch of new entrepreneurial initiatives. Located in Trieste within the AREA Science Park, and with laboratories in the main regional scientific centres, CBM acts as a bridge between research and industry by making available laboratories and instrumentation for shared use and connecting a wide network of research institutions, enterprises, governmental bodies, development agencies and financial partners, which support the creation of added value to the region. The Bioinformatics laboratory within CBM, headed by Elia Stupka, focuses on innovative approaches integrating dry lab and wet lab technologies aimed at the discovery and characterization of functional elements of the genome, regulation of transcription. Moreover, the lab acts as a service provider in the spheres of data management, data integration and data analysis, with a particular focus on services such as custom array design, analysis of micro-array data and development of custom solutions for complex data-driven projects. The laboratory is looking for bright, talented individuals to join the team in the role of Bioinformatics Developer. Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience. REQUIREMENTS: The candidate should demonstrate the ability to design and develop dynamic websites independently. He/she should have a proven track record and working knowledge in at least two of the following Web Technologies: Ruby On Rails, AJAX, PHP, CGI as well as experience with Perl and SQL compliant databases such as MySQL, PostrgreSQL. Prior experience with biological data (or a biology degree) are necessary. Experience with genome browsers and softwares such as Ensembl, BioMart, BioPerl, Bioconductor are advantegous.
