Open Position in Statistical Genetics/Genetic Epidemiology

Open Position in Statistical Genetics/Genetic Epidemiology

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer at the Venetian Institute of Oncology IOV for a computational biologist in the field of cancer genetics and genomics. Applicants should have an expertise in statistical genetics and/or genetic epidemiology to participate in projects aimed at the understanding the genetic basis of hereditary cancers. Ideal candidates should be self-sufficient in their job and have a good background in statistical genetics or genetic epidemiology. Experience in human genetics studies, genome-wide and/or single SNPs association studies, knowledge of the bioinformatics tools and statistical methods of data analysis as well as writing skills are required. Projects will deal with identification of genetic modifiers of BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations, as well as bio-pathological characterization of unclassified genetic variants in highly penetrant cancer genes. Our group is highly interactive and multidisciplinary and includes physicians, genetic counselors, and molecular geneticists. Specific areas of interest include cancer predisposition, identification and study of high penetrance genes as well as low risk/modifier alleles.

Applicants should send curriculum vitae and other documents according to the instructions reported at the Institutional website in the "bandi e concorsi" section (http://www.ioveneto.it/index.php?page=partner&hl=it_IT) before March 15th 2011

Please send an additional copy of the electronic format documents to the e-mail address montagna@unipd.it.
