A 2-year postdoc position is available at the Eurac Research Institute for Biomedicine in Bolzano/Bozen (Italy), within the ProtectMove project, which was developed in collaboration with the University of Lübeck (Germany) and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). By investigating causal epidemiological and molecular pathways for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, the project aims at advancing clinical understanding as well as exploring the methodological challenges of Mendelian randomization in this field.

The post holder will work within a high profile team of biostatisticians and genetic epidemiologists at the Eurac Research Institute for Biomedicine and at the Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics of the University of Lübeck. He/she will collaborate with an international network of top-level experts in the field of Mendelian randomization. He/she will be responsible for data quality control, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing. The position requires a highly dynamic, interactive and communicative attitude.

Tasks:
- To conduct Mendelian randomization studies, including advanced methods for one- and two-sample analyses
- To implement standard genetic epidemiology analyses, including regression model fitting and polygenic risk score derivation
- To collaborate in results interpretation and paper writing
- To present research findings at seminars and international conferences

Requirements:
- PhD degree in Statistics/Biostatistics/Bioinformatics or a related quantitative or biological subject with proven competence in Statistics
- Experience in large-scale data analysis
- Previous experience with genetic association studies and/or instrumental variable modeling (including Mendelian randomization) is an advantage
- Strong computer programming skills in R and experience in Linux scripting
- Ability to work in team and in an interdisciplinary environment
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
- Good publication record
- Knowledge of molecular biology and genomics is not necessary but is a plus
