Post-Doc Bioinformatician / Data Analyst for Translational Cancer Research Project in AML therapy

The group of prof. Maria Paola Martelli at the University of Perugia - Laboratory of Protein Biochemistry and Haematology, CREO, Ospedale Santa Maria della Misericordia, Perugia, Italy, is currently looking for a (f/m) post-doctoral bioinformatician to work for the next five years in Biological Data Storage, Analysis and Annotation in the framework of an exciting and significant Translational Cancer Research Project in AML funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant.

We require:

First degree (Bsc) in Biological or Quantitative Sciences (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Sciences, Physics, Chemistry and related qualifications).
PhD or documented scientific work experience with a relevant component of (biological/molecular) Quantitative Data Analysis and/or Programming for Data Analysis.
Good command of at least two of the following: scripting or programming languages (Perl, Python, Java or similar); statistical analysis packages (R, STATA or similar); mathematical modelling packages (Mathematica, MatLab or similar); good knowledge of DBMS managing and programming (MySQL, Oracle or similar).
Familiarity with HPC strategies in a Unix/Linux environment is mandatory.
Familiarity with NGS data analysis and annotation is a plus.
Familiarity with concepts of Molecular Oncology and/or Molecular Genetics is appreciated but not strictly required, since high-level training on these topics will be provided.
We offer:

A yearly full time research contract (“Assegno di Ricerca”), renewable up to five years. Starting salary is 25.000 Euro gross (around 1.550 Euro net/month), entirely financed by an ERC Consolidator Grant awarded to prof. Martelli. This starting salary can be increased, per the qualification and experience of the candidate.
An exciting and high-level translational cancer research project on the therapy of AML, based on an integrated approach ranging from CRISPR technology to high-throughput functional screening of pharmaceutical compounds and NGS data analysis.
High-level and well-supported analytical work on a well-established laboratory with an important background in the proposed topic and excellent perspectives of publication and scientific advancement in an important translational molecular oncology topic.
