The duration of the grant is four years and successful candidates will be enrolled in the PhD programme in Molecular Biophysics of the IIT-Scuola Normale Superiore. Following the award of the PhD title, the grant may be extended for further four years to pursue postdoctoral research on related topics. The research activities will be carried out in Pisa, at the NEST-SNS centre (National Enterprise for nanoScience and nanoTechnology) and the research groups of the IIT. The projects envision synergistic theoretical and experimental activities on advanced topics in nanobiotechnology such as: – Intelligent drug delivery – Cell-to-chip and chip-to-cell technologies – Biocompatible micro- and nano-fluidics – Design and fabrication of active nanoprobes as intracellular reporters – Monitoring and modeling of single bioevents in cells As far as the theoretical side is concerned, techniques pertaining to the domains of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics will be used and/or developed, with particular attention paid to Protein-Protein Interaction, Docking and Protein Engineering.
