Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) modeling

Postdoctoral Research Scientist in

Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) modeling

Description

Applications are invited for postdoctoral research scientists who will support COSBI research activities for the development of quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) models. The position will be initially fixed-term with real chance to become a permanent one.

COSBI is a pioneer in the application of mathematical modeling and its integration with pharmacodynamics/pharmacokinetics models for deciphering the complexity of biological systems in health and diseases. We have developed QSP pipelines that are contributing to the mechanistic understanding of the dynamic interaction between drugs and biological targets, and are providing valuable information to clinical development projects.

As part of the COSBI team, the successful candidate will join a highly motivated research group to develop QSP models in close relationship with the several active international collaborations that COSBI has in place in the pharma world. These collaborations allow access to proprietary data and provide the opportunity to face with real problems impacting every-day decision making within drug discovery and development. Particular emphasis will be devoted to neurodegenerative,   immunoinflammatory and metabolic diseases.

Although a basic understanding of biological processes is essential, this position is not intended for wet-lab oriented researchers. The candidate will report to the Head of Computational Biology.

You will be responsible for:

  • providing your expertise in the field of QSP modeling;
  • working in team in active international COSBI collaborations with the pharma world;
  • promoting the work of COSBI through scientific publications and presentations.

Your required skills and experience:

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics or related fields;
  • postdoctoral experience in mathematical modeling of biological systems;
  • excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable:

  • experience in multiscale/hierarchical/QSP modeling;
  • experience in deterministic/stochastic/hybrid simulation approaches;
  • experience with reaction-diffusion systems;
  • experience with computational environments such as MATLAB.

Job hours and salary:

Full-time job. Attractive salary and benefits negotiable according to CV, previous experience and skills.

ULocation:

The work location is in Rovereto, Northern Italy.
