Overview and description
COSBI exploits its top-quality, world-renowned research activity and results in bioinformatics and computational biology applied to the fields of systems nutrition and systems pharmacology to attract research contracts from top-level food and pharmaceutical companies.
COSBI started its operations over 10 years ago developing proprietary algorithms and methods to analyze, model and simulate biological systems at the molecular level, and connect these systems to higher-level phenotypes. Our research results are setting the state of the art in many fields of bioinformatics. After a first phase of technology development supported by seed money, COSBI started a path towards self-sustainability, a goal we achieved almost completely in the last years by offering our skills in the form of contract research projects for big food and pharmaceutical companies. COSBI’s best asset is human capital: we are offering services and we are not selling software. COSBI’s strategy is to work with companies in the field of systems nutrition and systems pharmacology, while still keeping alive the research activities that make COSBI a prime mover and state of the art setter in the scientific and industrial communities. As a consequence, we are not interested in EU or national academic grants that are typically heavy in terms of management and inconvenient in terms of their value for money.
To help COSBI achieve its ambitious goal and keep growing, we are now looking for a tenacious and target-driven Senior Researcher to run contract research projects from food and pharmaceutical companies and develop new methods and technologies for the next wave of innovation. According to COSBI’s strategy, we are not interested in experts of EU or national grant writing and negotiation. The Senior Researcher will work with the extended team of researchers at COSBI.
Required skills
In order to join our smart and enthusiastic team, the candidate Senior Researcher must be a resilient and creative individual for a demanding, but rewarding role, with
 PhD and at least 8-years research experience in bioinformatics and/or computational biology
 Strong publication record and citation indexes
 Proven track record in managing large research projects in the last 4 years, of which at least 3 from industrial contracts
 Excellent planning and communication skills
 Ability to speak and write in English fluently
 Exceptional skills of influence with a confident and persuasive approach

2 years, renewable according to the scientific results and customer satisfaction of the managed industrial projects
Salary
Salary includes a variable portion depending on quality of publications and customer satisfaction in the managed industrial projects

Work with the Research team and report to the CEO
Location
Rovereto, Northern Italy (remote working possible / availability to travel)
